RITZ-CARLTON HOTEL
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Savannah, Georgia. This project involves the rehabilitation and conversion of the tallest building in Savannah's historic district, colloquially known as "The Savannah Skyscraper," into a luxury hotel. The main structure, a historic 15-story building with marble finishes, Corinthian columns, and intricate moldings, was built in 1915 and is located in Savannah's historic district, directly facing "Johnson Square." Its original purpose was to house the Savannah Bank & Trust, a prominent bank in the area. Subsequently, in 1970, a 10-story annex was built with a more sober and practical appearance that contrasts with the finishes of the original building. As part of the proposal, efforts were made to more seamlessly integrate the annex, giving prominence to the historic building and restoring the original building to its early 20th-century glory. The project consists of 168 hotel rooms, restaurants, a ballroom, and a pool deck on the 13th floor above the 1970 annex, to which 2 additional levels are being added onto the original structure.
