The Bancroft hotel, a landmark of Miami Beach, was built during the height of the Streamline Moderne boom in 1939.
The Hotel underwent major alterations in the 1990’s, when it was turned into a Retail Venue and a large scale nightclub called Billboard Live. The developers at that time retained architect Michael Graves to design a condominium tower (on the beach at the former location of the Jefferson Hotel) plus a shopping arcade similar to CocoWalk and designed to terminate the Ocean Drive historic corridor.
Our office achieved Historic Preservation Board approval required to retrofit the 150,000 SF structure into a Class A Office Resort with high end restaurant venues and a private fitness studio. The building’s exterior spaces, long underutilized, were revitalized with “office cabanas” and gathering spaces to provide a relaxed, inviting working environment.
