Studio Mc+G conceived an elegant and contemporary design for the vibrant Urbanica hotel chain. The area of Edgewater, north of downtown and bordered by the Biscayne Bay to the east, is currently under a development drive encompassing mixed use, residential and hospitality architecture.
The area is home to structures that contribute greatly to Miami’s history, such as the Bacardi building, one of Miami’s most architecturally iconic structures. Facing the arterial Biscayne Boulevard, the ground level dining experience is celebrated with a monumental space featuring a light mural sculpture. The polished exposed concrete proposes an alternative to materials typical of the area. Its main entrance is accentuated by a strong prism-like gateway that becomes an emblematic feature.
The148,000 SF design for Urbanica Biscayne calls for 20 stories, a large game room, a rooftop pool deck, a garage with mechanical vehicle lifts and 100 guestrooms.
